Don't you just loathe the media, no sooner has Declan Rice scored his first goal to become the headline, then every fucking pundit from Bagpuss junior, Danny Higginbottom, John Greening, every pundit on Talksport etc have already sold him in the Summer to Man City

Apparently Man City have baulked at Wolves asking price of £100 million for Ruben Neves and have been alerted to Declan's sudden rise

I suppose it will keep us in our place, which is just where the elite want us

No surprise whatsoever. This is the club they have been dreading becoming successful. Chelsea are the media made Russian mafia funded plastic threat to arsenal and Tottenham its always been west ham anyone with a hole up there arse knows it.

Re: And it starts
He'll be the team Captain soon, next season - he'll stay with the Pellegrini revolution of the club for a few years yet.

Everything is on an upward momentum with MP in control.

Allardyce or Moyes yes he would gone soon, not now.

No disrespect to Declan but I trust El Pel And Husillos to replace Rice and strengthen the team for 100 million.

Gladioli won’t even be at City in a couple of years time... the whole scenario will have changed.

I reckon Rice will stick with us for at least two more years and you never know, if we can break into the top six, perhaps longer.

Re: And it starts
He not going to City any time soon,
he rightly caught some eyes because he was on TV vs a top 6 team and people need to fill inches/websites
they were talking about Neves doing the same tonight, he just got beat.

At this moment in time I cannot see any reason why DR would go to City and basically play 15=20 games ... and prob the vast majority from the bench... he seems a smart lad and has all the years in front of him... as long as nothing goes tits up I can only seeing being with us the next 3 years or so...

If I could whisper in his ear, I’d say “See you contract out.”

He is so young that if he did that, he’d only be 25 at that point, in his prime.

If we are still underachieving, he could go with all our blessings.

If Pellegrini stays fresh enough, and the board do all they can to back him, there would be a chance to convince Rice to stay longer.

Re: And it starts
He will off and some point, as the boy is clearly a winner.

I agree, just enjoy him at the moment, be it for this season, or hopefully a few more after that. But he will go at some point, because I doubt we’ll be able to match his ambition.

We may get better, but so will the teams who are interested in him. As long as it’s not the cunts from N17 I’ll be ok with it. But I hope it’s not for a while yet.

Re: And it starts
Am hoping that rather than encouraging a move it will show Declan and other young players that they need to avoid the big clubs and play regular first team football .

Phil Foden is another who needs to leave City otherwise his career will go backwards. You can name about 20 players at Chelsea who also need to leave and play regular football.

Oi you pricks, I've given Rice his dues when he's deserved it, which has been reasonably often lately. I just ain't gushing about him like a silly schoolboy like you lot. I still maintain starting the season having to rely on a 19 year old that had never played in midfield was ridiculous and was a recruitment failure. Turns out we got away with it. I'd take 100m for him all day long though! Not that anyone will be offering that for him yet.

Don't agree? Shits given = 0

Re: And it starts
selling him off? you think sullivan takes orders via posts on here? hahaha. im just realistic that guardiola would like him as a player, but we don't have to sell him now or in the near future and if he eventually goes, the new deal should get us a decent fee

Any Old Iron 10:30 Mon Jan 14
Re: And it starts
Supposed WHU fans selling him off when he's only just signed a long term contract.
Why don't you lot shut your fucking holes and just enjoy having a talented young player in our colours.

....and declan's the perfect replacement for fernandhino who'll probably leave after next season

Re: And it starts
north, I think guardiola would want both players. don't worry about the fuckers, they don't know what else to talk about but I do agree that they hate it when anyone outside of the usual suspects shows signs of improvement/progress. that's why you had so many of the cunts in the media spouting the 'be careful what you wish for' shit when allardyce left, which is code for 'know your place'

"We either need to get better, win stuff or get used to it."

Exactly. Plus...

This board is full of "take £50m for Marko" and "buy xyz" instead when nothing has even happened. Rampant speculation is the media (and this board's!) bread and butter. Nothing new, nothing to see.

Re: And it starts
He's a better fit for Man U or Liverpool, not that I want him to go to either of those bunch of cunts

Re: And it starts
I think Pep would rather him play week in week out for us and get better than take him and have his growth stunted by a big money transfer and then sitting on the bench for another few years.

I'm struggling to think of a Man City player that hadnt had a good few years of 1st team football before they got there.

I think Sancho left to get regular first team football and Foden barely gets a game. I doubt Rice would want that after gaining a first team place in a Prem club. Would actually be step backwards.

Alex Bunbury 9:31 Mon Jan 14
Re: And it starts
He would have been on a lot of club’s radar before Saturday. I think City and others are a bit more sophisticated than just reacting to whoever the media are currently touting based on the most recent round of games..

Can't see Man City, He is a better fit for Liverpool or maybe man Utd.

Re: And it starts
stewie can't say I've seen it or heard it before today & surprising if so, as it's only really us that have been raving about him

If there is strength to these rumours it would be very hard for the player to resist, our main hope would appear that Rice is very level headed and may want to give us a season or two to see where Pellegrini will take us
